Seidl and co-workers present a study modelling the difference in carbon sequestration for a transition from pine plantations and clear-cutting to continuous cover forestry of either pine- or mixed forests. Different climate scenarios are evaluated using two different forestry-economic models. A transition to continuous cover forestry is found to increase carbon storage in the forests under all circumstances, while the two models disagree on the effect of mixed forest on carbon sequestration. Authors conclude that the models need to be further developed to explicitly include carbon sequestration targets. Read the whole article in Silva Fennica
