The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (UK), together with Greenpeace and the Friends of the Earth, have compiled a short report on the UK government plans for application of bioenergy.  Based on data from the Department of Energy & Climate Change (DECC) they conclude that a large-scale move to biomass for electricity and heat generation does not have the reported climate benefit, because the carbon debt as well as the indirect substitution contributions have been left out of the accounting.
