Mason writes in a review on whether plantations of the imported Sitka spruce in the United Kingdom can be converted to continuous cover forests to increase production of multiple ecosystem services. A number of issues complicate the transition, including tree species and aversion to change from land owners. As a result it will take many decades for such a transition to be implemented.
